Priory Farm AA

Cola, Blood Orange, Dry Fruit

This classic Kenyan AA offers a lively, fruit-forward cup with exceptional clarity. Juicy berry notes lead the way, followed by hints of dried raisin and stone fruit that add depth and complexity. A subtle cola sweetness lingers, giving the coffee a sparkling, refreshing finish. The washed process highlights its clean structure and vibrant acidity, creating a balanced yet dynamic cup that is both bright and satisfying.

Information about the coffee region

This batch was cultivated, picked, and processed by Great Rift Coffee in Nandi County, Kenya, with harvesting occurring between October and November 2024. Founded in 2019, Great Rift Coffee is a fully integrated coffee enterprise located in Nandi Hills, Kenya, dedicated to growing, processing, roasting, and exporting premium Arabica coffee. Their farm-to-cup model guarantees stringent quality management throughout each phase of production.

Great Rift Coffee is cultivated beneath a shade tree canopy that replicates the natural forest environment, supporting habitats for local wildlife. The farm also grows supplementary crops and native trees to enhance soil health, prevent erosion, and encourage biodiversity. Following organic farming practices, the use of synthetic chemicals is avoided in favour of natural pest control methods and organic fertilizers, including manure from the onsite goat farm. The farm prioritizes efficient water use through irrigation systems that minimise waste. Surrounding buffer zones protect native vegetation and provide habitats for pollinators, with bee hives placed throughout the farm to further support this ecosystem.

Great Rift Coffee supports 250 to 300 local farmers by providing quality seedlings, financial help, and training. It also offers fair paid jobs at its farm and mill. The company has built boreholes to give nearby schools clean water and awards full scholarships to top girls in Nandi County for secondary education.
