Information about the coffee region

Sítio Esperança is like a dream estate tucked away in the stunning South of Minas, right in the heart of Lambari in the beautiful Serra da Mantiqueira de Minas region. This special place is famous for its crystal-clear waters and for growing the most delicious specialty coffees around, each cup bursting with unique aromas and flavours.  Run with lots of love and hard work by Daniel Magalhães dos Santos and Carolina Aparecida da Silva Santos, Sítio Esperança beckons to all with its impressive altitude.

Picture this: it reaches 1,130 meters at its main spot and soars even higher to a grand 1,310 meters at its peak, making it the perfect spot for growing those extra-special coffee beans.  Daniel, deeply tied to the land like a true local, carries on a long family tradition traced all the way back to his great-grandfather, José Miguel (or father Gué). Despite facing tough times, like the sad loss of his parents in 2020, Daniel and his three brothers stay strong, determined to honor the legacy passed down to them.

Nestled in the friendly São Geraldo community in the Congonhal district, Sítio da Esperança thrives in an ideal climate and soil, just perfect for cultivating those specialty coffee crops. From his early days, Daniel picked up all the tricks of the trade from his father, diving into his own business venture at just 15, making partnerships and managing coffee plantations.

At 21, Daniel's marriage to Carolina Aparecida, with her own farming background, marked a big step towards their goals. Together, they built their home, expanded their lands, and turned it all into the flourishing Sítio da Esperança. Today, as a dedicated family team, Daniel and Carolina focus on making their coffee even better year after year, keeping the flame of hope and family traditions alive, brewing up exceptional coffees and serving top-notch drinks with a firm commitment to getting even better.

Natural Processed Coffee

Natural processed coffee is the oldest and simplest method of coffee processing. Instead of removing the fruit from the coffee bean after harvest, the entire cherry is dried in the sun. This process allows the fruit’s sugars and flavours to infuse into the bean, creating a coffee with a distinctive taste profile.

Key characteristics of natural processed coffee:

  • Sweetness: Known for its pronounced sweetness due to the concentrated fruit sugars.
  • Fruity flavours: Often displays vibrant fruit notes like berries, stone fruits, or tropical notes.
  • Body: Generally has a fuller body compared to washed coffees.
  • Acidity: Lower acidity levels than washed coffees.
